Got married and stayed here and I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s so serene and quiet when you want to take a walk around the property and lots of places to hangout and sit and just enjoy nature. Breakfast was delicious!! Our wedding by the river was absolutely magical . The owner happened to be around and made us a wedding video which I will cherish for many years to come!!! We definitely plan to be back in the future!

Secluded, Cozy, and Yummy ☺The property was very well kept and so cute. Each place has its own designated parking so no need to worry about getting a space. The breakfast was beautiful and had lots of options for all. We really enjoyed the spa and sauna as well. The bed we had was massive and so comfortable too. It was perfectly comfortable! ☹Only think I did not like was how narrow the street is to get down to it. It’s a long narrow road and it at the end of it so if you go down at night there’s no lights so you have to go quite slow. Location was also not next to any restaurants or anything but it is secluded in its own section, so pros and cons come with that.

Riversong is forever going to be my husband and I’s most favorite place for a getaway. This was our third time staying at Riversong, but this stay was particularly special because we got married on Friday! We decided that it was a no brainer that we wanted to stay at Riversong at some point during our wedding week, so we did the beginning of the week in the days leading up to our wedding day. Let me tell you, that was one of the best decisions we could have made. It was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind before the big day. We stayed in two rooms for this stay- starting off with Pasque Flower and then moving into Chiming Bells for one night. My husband and I have this personal goal to stay in each room at least once, so we were able to knock out two this time. We certainly enjoyed Pasque Flower, however, I REALLY want to stay longer in Chiming Bells next time because it was my absolute favorite. The bathroom in Chiming Bells is absolutely stunning and the room is so spacious and has tons of nice, natural light from the skylight windows. Pasque flower is a bit smaller than Chiming Bells, but still relaxing nonetheless. One of the Innkeepers was fantastic and was so helpful to us especially when we had to make the move from Pasque Flower into Chiming Bells. He was super accommodating for our stuff (we had quite a bit of decor packed into our two cars for the wedding as we live out of state) and assisted us with being able to check into our room early. Also, the cleaning staff is AMAZING and had Chiming Bells completely clean and ready to go all before 11 am. We also did the afternoon tea session, which I originally had booked to occur in the main lodge, however the same innkeeper told us that we could have our tea in the Gazebo for no additional charge, as they had a cancellation. This turned out to be so lovely and made for a relaxing afternoon. Lastly, we did the picnic lunch which was filled with tons of goodies and a cute little bottle of white wine. My husband actually loved the picnic basket that they supplied us with and has been looking into getting a similar one for home! We were able to sit out by the river and eat our lunch and enjoy a glass of wine in Adirondack chairs as we sat and talked for awhile. The only thing I will note (and generally recommend) is to be careful if you apply some of the lotion that is supplied in the rooms! It is a lovely honey and chamomile scent, but one morning I had applied it to my legs and wore shorts as we went into town to get coffee. As I was outside at the coffee place, a bee stung me. I think it thought I was a flower! Not anything that is Riversong’s fault, but I just wanted to give a fair warning that a bee might like the smell of the lotion! 🙂 My husband and I will most certainly be back to Riversong. We will come back every year, at least! 😁

We enjoyed our stay immensely ☺The room was spectacular. Wood frame bed, large room, comfortable bed, large shower/tub. We had our own hot tub right outside our room. Breakfast was fantastic. While we were on a small dead-end road, it was very conveniently located near the RMNP entrance. ☹Some of the stonework around the grounds was a bit rundown. Didn't detract from our visit but didn't add to the beauty of the place either.

Incredibly pleasant stay—even if just for a night ☺The lodging was in such a beautiful location and close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was quiet and peaceful for the one night we had; we absolutely would have loved to have stayed longer. Facilities were as listed, innkeeper was very friendly, and check in and out was easy. We missed breakfast from sleeping in but were still able to catch some snacks and drinks. ☹The path to get to the property is narrow but easily drivable.

A truly successful writer’s retreat requires more than just a place to sleep. It demands an environment that sparks creativity and supports the writing process. At Romantic RiverSong Inn, we offer a unique combination of a secluded mountain setting and all-in-one amenities that sets us uniquely apart.

Here are a few key factors to consider:

  • Ideal Location: Writers should seek a location that inspires creativity and offers a peaceful escape. Estes Park, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, provides the perfect backdrop for a writing retreat.

  • Essential Amenities: A writer’s retreat needs functional spaces designed for productivity. Look for dedicated writing spaces (desks or tables), comfortable seating, and inspiring views.

  • Peace and Quiet: Minimizing distractions is crucial for focused writing. A peaceful and quiet environment, free from the interruptions of daily life, is essential. Consider a venue that is child and pet free as well as quiet around its surroundings.

  • Budget-Friendly Options: Retreats should be accessible to writers on various budgets. Look for venues that offer flexible options, such as off-season specials or opportunities for self-catering.

  • Comfort and Relaxation: Downtime and rejuvenation are just as important as focused writing time. Look for accommodations that offer comfortable spaces to relax and recharge.

Don’t just take our word for it! See what a DIY retreat writer wrote about her experience crafting a DIY writers retreat and what was essential:

"I decided on Estes Park, a small tourist town in the Rocky Mountains just an hour north of where I live. I narrowed down my lodging choices to those with a full kitchen (so I could save money and eat healthy), a desk or table for writing (surprisingly hard to find), and a fireplace (I needed to write by a crackling fire—this was non-negotiable). I ultimately chose an inn that didn’t allow children or pets, in the hopes that it would be quieter and more conducive to writing. Bonus points: They were having an off-season special, stay two nights and get the third free, which left more money in my budget for notebooks, tea, fuzzy socks, and other writing necessities. Cha-ching. Oh, and did I mention the in-room jacuzzi?"

Do Writing Retreats Work?

Absolutely! Writing retreats offer a dedicated space and time away from the everyday hustle, allowing writers to fully immerse themselves in their craft. By removing distractions and providing a supportive environment, retreats can boost productivity, spark new ideas, and help writers overcome creative blocks. The change of scenery, the camaraderie with fellow writers (if you choose a group retreat), and the focused atmosphere can all contribute to significant progress on writing projects.

How Long Should a Writing Retreat Be?

The ideal length of a writing retreat depends on several factors, including your individual goals, the complexity of your project, and your budget. Short retreats, such as a weekend getaway, can be perfect for brainstorming, overcoming writer’s block, or making progress on a specific task. Longer retreats, lasting a week or more, offer more time for deep immersion in your writing, allowing you to develop complex narratives, complete drafts, or even finish entire manuscripts. Consider what you hope to achieve during your retreat.

Are you looking to kickstart a new project, refine existing work, or simply dedicate uninterrupted time to writing? A clear understanding of your goals will help you determine the optimal length for your retreat. At Romantic RiverSong Inn, we offer flexible rental options, allowing you to tailor your retreat to your specific needs, whether you’re seeking a short burst of inspiration or an extended period of focused writing.

More Than Just a Venue:

At Romantic RiverSong Inn, we believe that a successful writing retreat is more than just a place to write. It’s about creating an atmosphere that fosters creativity, connection, and rejuvenation. It’s about providing a space where writers can escape the distractions of daily life and fully immerse themselves in their craft.  Read more about the versatility of our inn as a private retreat venue and how others are using it for their retreats here.
