Got married and stayed here and I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s so serene and quiet when you want to take a walk around the property and lots of places to hangout and sit and just enjoy nature. Breakfast was delicious!! Our wedding by the river was absolutely magical . The owner happened to be around and made us a wedding video which I will cherish for many years to come!!! We definitely plan to be back in the future!

Secluded, Cozy, and Yummy ☺The property was very well kept and so cute. Each place has its own designated parking so no need to worry about getting a space. The breakfast was beautiful and had lots of options for all. We really enjoyed the spa and sauna as well. The bed we had was massive and so comfortable too. It was perfectly comfortable! ☹Only think I did not like was how narrow the street is to get down to it. It’s a long narrow road and it at the end of it so if you go down at night there’s no lights so you have to go quite slow. Location was also not next to any restaurants or anything but it is secluded in its own section, so pros and cons come with that.

Riversong is forever going to be my husband and I’s most favorite place for a getaway. This was our third time staying at Riversong, but this stay was particularly special because we got married on Friday! We decided that it was a no brainer that we wanted to stay at Riversong at some point during our wedding week, so we did the beginning of the week in the days leading up to our wedding day. Let me tell you, that was one of the best decisions we could have made. It was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind before the big day. We stayed in two rooms for this stay- starting off with Pasque Flower and then moving into Chiming Bells for one night. My husband and I have this personal goal to stay in each room at least once, so we were able to knock out two this time. We certainly enjoyed Pasque Flower, however, I REALLY want to stay longer in Chiming Bells next time because it was my absolute favorite. The bathroom in Chiming Bells is absolutely stunning and the room is so spacious and has tons of nice, natural light from the skylight windows. Pasque flower is a bit smaller than Chiming Bells, but still relaxing nonetheless. One of the Innkeepers was fantastic and was so helpful to us especially when we had to make the move from Pasque Flower into Chiming Bells. He was super accommodating for our stuff (we had quite a bit of decor packed into our two cars for the wedding as we live out of state) and assisted us with being able to check into our room early. Also, the cleaning staff is AMAZING and had Chiming Bells completely clean and ready to go all before 11 am. We also did the afternoon tea session, which I originally had booked to occur in the main lodge, however the same innkeeper told us that we could have our tea in the Gazebo for no additional charge, as they had a cancellation. This turned out to be so lovely and made for a relaxing afternoon. Lastly, we did the picnic lunch which was filled with tons of goodies and a cute little bottle of white wine. My husband actually loved the picnic basket that they supplied us with and has been looking into getting a similar one for home! We were able to sit out by the river and eat our lunch and enjoy a glass of wine in Adirondack chairs as we sat and talked for awhile. The only thing I will note (and generally recommend) is to be careful if you apply some of the lotion that is supplied in the rooms! It is a lovely honey and chamomile scent, but one morning I had applied it to my legs and wore shorts as we went into town to get coffee. As I was outside at the coffee place, a bee stung me. I think it thought I was a flower! Not anything that is Riversong’s fault, but I just wanted to give a fair warning that a bee might like the smell of the lotion! 🙂 My husband and I will most certainly be back to Riversong. We will come back every year, at least! 😁

We enjoyed our stay immensely ☺The room was spectacular. Wood frame bed, large room, comfortable bed, large shower/tub. We had our own hot tub right outside our room. Breakfast was fantastic. While we were on a small dead-end road, it was very conveniently located near the RMNP entrance. ☹Some of the stonework around the grounds was a bit rundown. Didn't detract from our visit but didn't add to the beauty of the place either.

Incredibly pleasant stay—even if just for a night ☺The lodging was in such a beautiful location and close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was quiet and peaceful for the one night we had; we absolutely would have loved to have stayed longer. Facilities were as listed, innkeeper was very friendly, and check in and out was easy. We missed breakfast from sleeping in but were still able to catch some snacks and drinks. ☹The path to get to the property is narrow but easily drivable.

Is Estes Park Worth Visiting in Winter?

Spoiler: Yes! Absolutely. Estes Park is worth visiting in winter — and here’s why.

Planning a winter getaway to the Rockies and wondering if Estes Park is worth visiting in winter? The answer is yes — and in this blog, we’ll show you why. From snow-dusted trails in Rocky Mountain National Park to festive Christmas charm downtown, winter in Estes offers beauty, peace, and experiences you won’t find in the busy summer season.

We’ll answer the most common questions travelers ask — about crowds, weather, wildlife, and things to do — while also giving you a glimpse of what it’s like to stay at Riversong Inn Retreat, our cozy riverside bed & breakfast. Think fireplaces, hot tubs, homemade breakfasts, and snowy walks right outside your door.

Why Visit Estes Park in Winter?

Estes Park in winter feels like stepping into a snow globe — quiet trails, frosted trees, and the kind of peaceful mountain magic that can only be found when the summer crowds fade. The Rocky Mountain National Park entrance is minutes away, offering snowy adventures, wildlife watching, and postcard-worthy views in every direction.

At night, downtown Estes Park glows with twinkle lights, charming shops, and steaming mugs of cocoa. And when you’re ready to warm up, our Riversong Inn Retreat is a cozy refuge with fireplaces, hot tubs, and homemade treats waiting for you.

What Can You Do in Estes Park in the Winter?

Even under a blanket of snow, Estes Park is full of adventure and relaxation. Popular winter activities include:

  • Snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in Rocky Mountain National Park

  • Winter wildlife watching (elk, deer, and even bighorn sheep!)

  • Ice skating at the YMCA of the Rockies

  • Holiday shopping & events in downtown Estes Park

  • Cozy cabin time with books, board games, and riverside views

Will You See Wildlife in Estes Park in Winter?

Yes! Elk remain abundant throughout winter, often spotted lounging in meadows or strolling through town. Mule deer and turkeys are common sightings too. The quiet of the season makes wildlife encounters feel even more magical.

And at Riversong Inn Retreat, you might not even have to leave the property — elk and deer frequently wander our meadows and trails.

Is Estes Park Crowded in Winter?

For the most part, winter in Estes Park is calm and uncrowded compared to the busy summer and fall seasons. Trails are quieter, the town is more relaxed, and you’ll often feel like you have the mountains all to yourself.

That said, during peak holiday weeks like Christmas and New Year’s, the town does see an uptick in visitors. You may find yourself waiting a bit longer for that hot coffee or lunch downtown as folks warm up and get out of the cold. Even so, it’s nothing like the summer rush — and the snow-dusted charm of Estes in the holidays is part of what makes it so special.

Is Estes Park Fun at Christmas?

Absolutely. The whole town glows with twinkle lights, festive shop windows, and a cozy holiday spirit. Downtown hosts events, carolers, and seasonal treats, while the mountains provide the perfect snowy backdrop. At Riversong Inn Retreat, many couples and families make Christmas their tradition — cozy by the fire, watching elk wander the meadow, and sharing holiday breakfast with mountain views.
