One of my favorite boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed at, the building, the grounds, the river, everything was perfect. I’ll have to come back for the tea serving. ☺Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities

This resort has cabins next to a river, a massage yurt, the opportunity to have High Tea next to the river, in a large white gazzebo, or in their dining room. They have hot tubs and jacuzzis in some of the cabins.

Riversong was amazing and we hope to come back next summer! ☺The saff and breakfast were fantastic! ☹The hot tubs in the surrounding woods could use some amenities around them to make access more inviting. It would have been great to have a central fire pit that was built for all guests on cool evenings to socialize by.

A nice property, although no one who stays there is freindly. ☺The room was decent, parking was easy, decent breakfast, secluded from all the highway traffic. Daniel was great in getting us settled in ☹The AC unit was noisy, and unclear how to regulate, although we did open the windows at night and turned the AC off

This was a lovely Tea Service, set in our own private gazebo looking out over the mountain side. The food was delicious as was the tea. After we walked down to the stream and it was absolutely beautiful! Next time we plan on staying in a cabin for a few days. Absolutely, dont overlook this gem while visiting Estes.

NaNoWriMo in Estes Park: A Writer’s Retreat in the Rockies

Let NaNoWriMo in Estes Park this year be your best writing ever!

When the mountains call, sometimes they whisper — inviting you to slow down, breathe deeply, and put pen to paper. Find inspiration in the stillness of the Rockies, with our retreat as your welcoming oasis for creativity, reflection, and rest.

Why Estes Park is a Writer’s Dream

naniwrimo in Estes Park

Writers have long sought out the mountains for inspiration. The Rockies offer more than just views — they offer perspective. In Estes Park, the crisp air, golden aspens, and the ever-present sound of the Big Thompson River create an atmosphere where the noise of everyday life fades, and the inner voice grows louder.

For writers, whether seasoned authors or first-time NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) participants, the landscape itself becomes a muse: quiet mornings, elk bugling in the distance, snow-dusted peaks, and starlit skies. Every corner offers a new line, a new image, a new scene waiting to be written.

Finding Stillness at Riversong Inn Retreat

At Riversong Inn Retreat, inspiration isn’t something you have to chase — it’s built into the rhythm of your stay. Our 26-acre property gives writers the rare chance to combine solitude with comfort:

  • Riverside trails and meadows for reflection walks
  • The Seven Benches Trail for moments of pause and perspective
  • Private decks and fireplaces where stories can unfold quietly
  • Outdoor hot tubs and saunas to unwind after a day of writing
  • Daily gourmet breakfasts and afternoon treats so you can stay focused on your craft

Every suite is uniquely designed, offering a peaceful haven where creativity can flourish without distraction.

📖 The Purpose of a Writing Retreat

Writing retreats are about more than word counts. They’re about stepping outside routine and gifting yourself a sacred space for creativity. In the stillness, ideas have room to grow. At Riversong, writers often:

  • Set an intention for their project before walking the on site labyrinth
  • Use mornings for focused writing and afternoons for reflection outdoors
  • Journal during a riverside sit, letting the sounds of the water guide the flow
  • End the day stargazing — allowing the vastness above to expand perspective on the page

✨ Why November? NaNoWriMo Energy

November’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is about tackling big goals and committing to your story. And while coffee shops and living rooms can work, there’s something powerful about placing yourself in an environment designed for reflection and renewal. A writing retreat during NaNoWriMo helps you:

  • Minimize distractions
  • Tap into new inspiration from nature
  • Build writing rhythms supported by the inn’s cozy routines
  • Celebrate milestones with small luxuries (like a riverside walk or hot tub soak)

🖋️ Create Your Own Rocky Mountain Writing Retreat

Whether you’re drafting a novel, journaling for clarity, or exploring poetry, Riversong gives you the tools and setting to create your own retreat. Add on a charcuterie board for a writing break, sip coffee while editing on your private deck, or let the labyrinth guide your thoughts into new directions.

The goal isn’t just to write more words — it’s to write from a deeper place of rest, inspiration, and presence.
