Got married and stayed here and I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s so serene and quiet when you want to take a walk around the property and lots of places to hangout and sit and just enjoy nature. Breakfast was delicious!! Our wedding by the river was absolutely magical . The owner happened to be around and made us a wedding video which I will cherish for many years to come!!! We definitely plan to be back in the future!

Secluded, Cozy, and Yummy ☺The property was very well kept and so cute. Each place has its own designated parking so no need to worry about getting a space. The breakfast was beautiful and had lots of options for all. We really enjoyed the spa and sauna as well. The bed we had was massive and so comfortable too. It was perfectly comfortable! ☹Only think I did not like was how narrow the street is to get down to it. It’s a long narrow road and it at the end of it so if you go down at night there’s no lights so you have to go quite slow. Location was also not next to any restaurants or anything but it is secluded in its own section, so pros and cons come with that.

Riversong is forever going to be my husband and I’s most favorite place for a getaway. This was our third time staying at Riversong, but this stay was particularly special because we got married on Friday! We decided that it was a no brainer that we wanted to stay at Riversong at some point during our wedding week, so we did the beginning of the week in the days leading up to our wedding day. Let me tell you, that was one of the best decisions we could have made. It was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind before the big day. We stayed in two rooms for this stay- starting off with Pasque Flower and then moving into Chiming Bells for one night. My husband and I have this personal goal to stay in each room at least once, so we were able to knock out two this time. We certainly enjoyed Pasque Flower, however, I REALLY want to stay longer in Chiming Bells next time because it was my absolute favorite. The bathroom in Chiming Bells is absolutely stunning and the room is so spacious and has tons of nice, natural light from the skylight windows. Pasque flower is a bit smaller than Chiming Bells, but still relaxing nonetheless. One of the Innkeepers was fantastic and was so helpful to us especially when we had to make the move from Pasque Flower into Chiming Bells. He was super accommodating for our stuff (we had quite a bit of decor packed into our two cars for the wedding as we live out of state) and assisted us with being able to check into our room early. Also, the cleaning staff is AMAZING and had Chiming Bells completely clean and ready to go all before 11 am. We also did the afternoon tea session, which I originally had booked to occur in the main lodge, however the same innkeeper told us that we could have our tea in the Gazebo for no additional charge, as they had a cancellation. This turned out to be so lovely and made for a relaxing afternoon. Lastly, we did the picnic lunch which was filled with tons of goodies and a cute little bottle of white wine. My husband actually loved the picnic basket that they supplied us with and has been looking into getting a similar one for home! We were able to sit out by the river and eat our lunch and enjoy a glass of wine in Adirondack chairs as we sat and talked for awhile. The only thing I will note (and generally recommend) is to be careful if you apply some of the lotion that is supplied in the rooms! It is a lovely honey and chamomile scent, but one morning I had applied it to my legs and wore shorts as we went into town to get coffee. As I was outside at the coffee place, a bee stung me. I think it thought I was a flower! Not anything that is Riversong’s fault, but I just wanted to give a fair warning that a bee might like the smell of the lotion! 🙂 My husband and I will most certainly be back to Riversong. We will come back every year, at least! 😁

We enjoyed our stay immensely ☺The room was spectacular. Wood frame bed, large room, comfortable bed, large shower/tub. We had our own hot tub right outside our room. Breakfast was fantastic. While we were on a small dead-end road, it was very conveniently located near the RMNP entrance. ☹Some of the stonework around the grounds was a bit rundown. Didn't detract from our visit but didn't add to the beauty of the place either.

Incredibly pleasant stay—even if just for a night ☺The lodging was in such a beautiful location and close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was quiet and peaceful for the one night we had; we absolutely would have loved to have stayed longer. Facilities were as listed, innkeeper was very friendly, and check in and out was easy. We missed breakfast from sleeping in but were still able to catch some snacks and drinks. ☹The path to get to the property is narrow but easily drivable.

Elk in the winter

Wildlife at Riversong Inn Retreat (and when you’re most likely to see them)

One of the most magical parts of staying at Riversong Inn Retreat isn’t planned, scheduled, or guaranteed — it simply happens.

Because Riversong sits along the Big Thompson River, with private meadows, wooded corridors, and natural trails, wildlife moves through the property naturally. Guests often tell us their favorite moments weren’t the hikes they planned — but the animals they happened upon quietly, unexpectedly, and respectfully.

Over the years, our team and guests have been lucky enough to capture wildlife moments right here on the property — quietly passing through meadows, crossing the river, or pausing just long enough to remind us that this is their home.

Our Riversong YouTube channel features real, unfiltered sightings of:

  • Elk — including powerful bulls during rut season and elk calves learning the rhythms of the meadow

  • Mule deer and white-tailed deer, often seen grazing peacefully near the river

  • Wild turkeys, traveling in groups through open areas

  • Bobcats, rare and elusive, typically spotted at dawn or dusk

  • Coyotes, heard more often than seen, moving gracefully along the edges of the land

  • Black bears (rare but possible), usually passing through quietly rather than lingering

  • Hummingbirds, especially in warmer months near flowers and feeders

  • Prairie dogs and yellow-bellied marmots, adding playful movement to rocky areas

  • A wide variety of birds, from songbirds to raptors overhead

These sightings aren’t staged or scheduled — they’re part of the natural flow of life along the Big Thompson River.

🦌 Elk & Calves: A Seasonal Highlight

One of the most special wildlife moments guests experience is seeing elk calves in late spring and early summer. Watching them stay close to their mothers, test their legs, and explore the meadow is a quiet reminder of how alive the land truly is.

In late summer and fall, the energy shifts as elk gather and bugling fills the air — a sound that often echoes across the property in the early morning or evening.

🐾 Rare & Elusive Sightings

Some animals are seen only occasionally — and that’s what makes those moments unforgettable.

  • Bobcats are extremely shy and typically appear briefly at the edges of the property

  • Bears, while uncommon, may pass through as part of their larger roaming territory

  • Coyotes often move silently at dawn or dusk

These sightings reinforce why Riversong prioritizes environmental stewardship and wildlife safety protocols, ensuring the land remains welcoming for animals and guests alike.

🌿 Why Wildlife Loves Riversong

Riversong isn’t just scenic — it’s part of a natural wildlife corridor. The river, meadows, trees, and minimal disturbance create a safe passage for animals moving through the area.

This is also why we take stewardship seriously:

  • Nightly garbage protocols for bear safety

  • Landscaping that won’t harm wildlife

  • Respectful distance and education for guests

Caring for the land ensures these encounters remain safe — for animals and people alike.
