I can’t begin to explain the beauty of the property. It is truly heaven to wake up, look out your window and see the mountains! I sat by the river and crocheted. Looking at the gorgeous scenery and hearing the peaceful river is beyond bliss. The place is absolutely gorgeous, spotless, unique, close to town, and has an awesome breakfast. It’s not a matter of if we come back, but when. I don’t know what else to say except you will NOT be disappointed if you book any room in this wonderful inn. | Liked: cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities

Charming Bed & Breakfast by the water - like a book We had a wonderful stay at riverside inn. After staying at the Stanley for two nights, we wanted a chance of pace - to feel more in nature and by the water. Riversong Inn was a little hidden gem down the road close to town. Nathan (housekeeper) greeted us when we arrived and right away we got a warm, cozy vibe! :) The breakfast every morning is SO GOOD and they have a coffee bar, and sweet treats put out daily. Fruit and other snacks were available + water. The property is charming with big trees, the stream and benches trail. We saw a massive ELK on our leisure stroll and that was a treat! The hot tubs were always ready to go, and a perfect way to end a busy day, sit under the stars and take in the crisp mountain air. There are more than one on the property which is cool! If you want a quiet, quaint, mountain get away, RSI is perfect! :) we’d love to come Back!

Got married and stayed here and I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s so serene and quiet when you want to take a walk around the property and lots of places to hangout and sit and just enjoy nature. Breakfast was delicious!! Our wedding by the river was absolutely magical . The owner happened to be around and made us a wedding video which I will cherish for many years to come!!! We definitely plan to be back in the future!

Secluded, Cozy, and Yummy ☺The property was very well kept and so cute. Each place has its own designated parking so no need to worry about getting a space. The breakfast was beautiful and had lots of options for all. We really enjoyed the spa and sauna as well. The bed we had was massive and so comfortable too. It was perfectly comfortable! ☹Only think I did not like was how narrow the street is to get down to it. It’s a long narrow road and it at the end of it so if you go down at night there’s no lights so you have to go quite slow. Location was also not next to any restaurants or anything but it is secluded in its own section, so pros and cons come with that.

Riversong is forever going to be my husband and I’s most favorite place for a getaway. This was our third time staying at Riversong, but this stay was particularly special because we got married on Friday! We decided that it was a no brainer that we wanted to stay at Riversong at some point during our wedding week, so we did the beginning of the week in the days leading up to our wedding day. Let me tell you, that was one of the best decisions we could have made. It was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind before the big day. We stayed in two rooms for this stay- starting off with Pasque Flower and then moving into Chiming Bells for one night. My husband and I have this personal goal to stay in each room at least once, so we were able to knock out two this time. We certainly enjoyed Pasque Flower, however, I REALLY want to stay longer in Chiming Bells next time because it was my absolute favorite. The bathroom in Chiming Bells is absolutely stunning and the room is so spacious and has tons of nice, natural light from the skylight windows. Pasque flower is a bit smaller than Chiming Bells, but still relaxing nonetheless. One of the Innkeepers was fantastic and was so helpful to us especially when we had to make the move from Pasque Flower into Chiming Bells. He was super accommodating for our stuff (we had quite a bit of decor packed into our two cars for the wedding as we live out of state) and assisted us with being able to check into our room early. Also, the cleaning staff is AMAZING and had Chiming Bells completely clean and ready to go all before 11 am. We also did the afternoon tea session, which I originally had booked to occur in the main lodge, however the same innkeeper told us that we could have our tea in the Gazebo for no additional charge, as they had a cancellation. This turned out to be so lovely and made for a relaxing afternoon. Lastly, we did the picnic lunch which was filled with tons of goodies and a cute little bottle of white wine. My husband actually loved the picnic basket that they supplied us with and has been looking into getting a similar one for home! We were able to sit out by the river and eat our lunch and enjoy a glass of wine in Adirondack chairs as we sat and talked for awhile. The only thing I will note (and generally recommend) is to be careful if you apply some of the lotion that is supplied in the rooms! It is a lovely honey and chamomile scent, but one morning I had applied it to my legs and wore shorts as we went into town to get coffee. As I was outside at the coffee place, a bee stung me. I think it thought I was a flower! Not anything that is Riversong’s fault, but I just wanted to give a fair warning that a bee might like the smell of the lotion! 🙂 My husband and I will most certainly be back to Riversong. We will come back every year, at least! 😁

Elevation Sickness

Estes Park sits at 7,500 feet above sea level, with RMNP hikes reaching well over 10,000 feet. Symptoms can include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Remember to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol the first day, and acclimate by taking it easy upon arrival.

If you’re prone to altitude sickness, consider medication or spending a night at a lower elevation before heading into the mountains. We’ve written more about it in depth here: Altitude Sickness, Dehydration & Weather in Estes Park

Check the Weather

Mountain weather changes fast! Pack layers, rain gear, and always check forecasts before heading out.

Plan Your Hikes

Start early to avoid crowds and give yourself ample daylight. Let someone know your itinerary if hiking solo for added safety. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and a map or GPS device.

Understand the Wildlife

Keep a safe distance from animals and never feed them. Read All About Estes Park Elk.  Be sure store food properly to avoid attracting bears, and be aware of elk during rutting season.

Transportation Considerations

Shuttles vs. Car Rental – RMNP’s free shuttle service operates to major trailheads on the east side of the park, but weekday service stops after Labor Day. Factor in the costs of a rental car versus shuttles if traveling in the off-season.

Timed Entry Permits – Required for Bear Lake Road and other popular areas in peak season. Booking in advance helps avoid last-minute stress.

Time of Year

Different seasons bring different experiences to Estes Park:

Spring & Summer – Ideal for hiking, rafting, and wildlife watching, with long daylight hours.

Fall – Stunning foliage, cooler temperatures, and the famous elk rutting season, making for unique wildlife encounters.

Winter – Snowy landscapes, fewer crowds, great for solitude, and winter sports like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
